On 1 August 2013 Dr Freckelton AO KC was appointed a Professorial Fellow in Law and Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne.

The University of Melbourne is Australia’s top ranking Law Faculty. It commenced offering tuition in 1857.

In 2023 it was ranked as the 13th placed law school in the world behind Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford and Yale by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by subject and  No 8 in the world in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject, 2024) and 11 in the world under the World University Rankings for Law

Professor Freckelton is an alumnus of the University of Melbourne, having been awarded a Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree, a higher doctorate,  by the University in 2016.

As of 2023/2024: Professor Freckelton teaches 4 subjects  in the Master of Health and Medical Law Program:

  • Health Law & Human Rights
  • Regulation of Health Practitioners
  • Mental Health and Disability Law
  • Pandemic Law and Practice.

In 2013 Professor Freckelton taught Torts in the JD program and has also taught a research subject on Expert Evidence.
