The Club Melbourne Ambassador Program was founded in 2005, developed alongside Victoria’s commitment to utilise the state’s expertise and knowledge on a world stage, calling on the work of Ambassadors who are leaders in their fields: http://www.clubmelbourne.com.au/
Ambassadors use their networks to encourage medical, scientific and industry leaders to chair and support international conventions and business events in Melbourne.
Melbourne’s universities, hospitals and research facilities ensure it is well placed as a major player in securing international business events for the city and the state.
The business events industry is the highest yielding sector of the tourism industry, generating $1.2 billion annually for the Victorian economy. Club Melbourne leverages Melbourne’s business events capacity provided by the expanded Melbourne Convention Centre to secure international conferences.
As the first, and only, ‘6 Star Green Star’ environmentally rated convention centre in the world, the venue represents world leadership in best practice, innovation and sustainability and continues to raise standards to new heights in technology, imaginative catering and service options.
Club Melbourne’s Patron-in-Chief is the Governor of Victoria and the Founding Patron is the Premier of Victoria. With the support of its patrons and ambassadors, the aim of the program is to continue to to strengthen Melbourne’s reputation as Australia’s business events capital.
Professor Freckelton has played an energetic role in assisting Club Melbourne, including playing a role in securing the 2017 conference of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association for Melbourne, for which he received an award from Club Melbourne.
