Dr Freckelton AO KC is the founding Editor of the Journal of Law and Medicine, which commenced publication in 1993 and was launched by Professor Duncan Chappell, then of the Australian Institute of Criminology.

The Journal publishes contributions about issues that have a legal, medical or bioethical content arising at the interface between health and law, including the delivery of the full range of health services. Its focus is broad, international and cross-disciplinary. It seeks to encourage informed discourse about contemporary issues from empirical, case law, policy and theoretical perspectives.

It contains substantial editorials, and also book reviews, letters, and the following regular columns:
