Dr Freckelton AO KC is the founding editor of the journal, Psychiatry, Psychology and Law, which commenced publication in 1994.

It is published six times per year by Taylor & Francis. Between 1994 and 2021 he was the journal’s Editor-in-Chief and is now its Editor-at-Large.

Prior to the creation of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law, Dr Freckelton co-edited proceedings of the congresses of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law (ANZAPPL) between 1988 and 1992.

The Journal publishes contributions about issues on the interface between law and mental health. It aims to promote and disseminate information regarding research and international development in forensic, psychology, forensic psychiatry and areas of law and other disciplines in which psychiatry and psychology have a relevance.

Psychiatry, Psychology and Law includes:

• review articles
• analyses of professional issues;

• original policy studies;
• book reviews;
• special issues dealing with a particular topic in depth,
• legislation commentaries;
• case commentaries; and
• obituaries.

All contributions to the journal are peer reviewed.
