On 1 August 2013 Dr Freckelton QC was appointed a Professorial Fellow in Law and Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne. The University of Melbourne is Australia’s top ranking Law Faculty. In 2013 it was ranked as the 5th placed law school in the world behind Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford and Yale by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by subject. It commenced offering tuition in 1857.
Professor Freckelton is an alumnus of the University of Melbourne, having been awarded a Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree by the University in 2016.
In 2013 Professor Freckelton taught Torts in the JD program and in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 a combination of Mental Health Law and Health Law and Human Rights in the Master of Health and Medical Law Program. In 2016 he also taught a research subject in the JD Program on Expert Evidence. In 2013/2014 he gave guest lectures in the Masters Course on Regulation of Health Practitioners and in Torts.
